The Fandom I'm staying and stayed

1. BTS 방탄소년탄 防彈少年團

I had already known BTS this group for a while, but only until this May, I started to buy/download their music.

At first, due to my workplace, I was asked to download a plethora of K-pop music videos and performances. As soon as I broadcasted BTS' videos, people gathered around and it made me surprised at that time. Thus, I get to know numerous ARMYs in these two years and brought me into their fandom as well.

I still remember when I first watched "Mic Drop" music video, I was enthused by the soundtrack, choreography, and its aesthetics. As a result, I searched hundreds of reaction video of this song and indulged into it.

But that was not the end. Upon knowing they won Top Social Artist Award at 2018 Billboard Music Awards, I began to be addicted to them. The more clips I see, the more I like them. I could spend hours on watching same video in different channels. I enjoy watching their funny clips and something shows their teamwork.

To analyze their success in the US, I would like to ascribe to their talents, of course, but also their stories. They didn't receive attention at first although they were as excellent as now then. However, by insistence, they were finally shining to the world. What made ARMYs affectively connect/immerse to them is their unique personality, diverse colors between seven members, and the spirit of making music. Namjoon, the leader of the group, said it was the series of stories behind their albums/music let them stand out. I totally agree with that. Especially "Love Yourself" series, which was on the point to the social issue in modern society. In addition, music industry in the US is more stressed on individual, therefore, the group which members can sing, rap, and dance in sync, seemed to be fresh and shock to American audience.

Secondly, although I like them all, I still want to give some personal ideas about my bias. I was first attracted by Suga because of his smile, cuteness (must watch: 4'35'') and his embarrassed face. After my research, I knew he wrote and produced a huge number of songs with his talent. Maybe this is the reason why I like him more. (BTW, I really love the song 'Seesaw' written and sung by him.)

In the other hand, when the song 'Epiphany' came out on August 9th, I was deeply touched by the lyrics and Jin's voice. I streamed it for almost two hundred times and cried whenever I saw the MV.

"I'm the one I should love in this world."

I love Jin's laughter, just like the sound of mopping the glass, and the tone when he got angry. Haha
